Not to mention the staggering medical costs that are incurred. Heart attack in middle-aged men is on the rise, as are the number of strokes reported each year by the American Medical association. There is an answer and it comes from the orient. It is highly effective as it can lower your blood pressure and release stress before it kills you. Let’s look at using martial arts to reduce stress levels that are perfectly suited to the western life style and put you back onto the road to health.
The martial arts I’m talking about are not the ones you see in the movies or on TV. There is no leaping about and shattering bricks with your hands. Though, you could do it if you wished to. These are called the Nega-martial arts, the Yin energy styles also called neijia gong. And we will look at 5 of them.
Tai Chi (Taijiquan) is world famous for its stress relief properties. You may not be aware but there are approximately 50 styles of Tai Chi available divided by five groupings they are the Yang, Wu, Chen, Sun, Wu/Hao, and Ku style. The most popular being the Yang style. Tai Chi is a form of slow moving meditation combined with isometric forms. There’s a 23 movement, 24, 48, and 108 movement that are performed by most people who practice Tai Chi. Continue reading
